Mizanur Rahman (B.Tech. in ECE, Batch of 2026), Rishi Paul (B.Tech. in ECE, Batch of 2026), Shikha Rani Gogoi (B.Tech. in ECE, Batch of 2026) and Bastab T Bordoloi (MBA, Batch of 2025), pushed their ideas into the winning podium at IdeaRun 2024, a national level student project competition hosted by IEEE Smart Village South Asia Regional Council. Despite its exceptional flavor, rich nutritional and medicinal properties, Bael fruit remains underutilized due to its hard shell, sticky texture, numerous seeds, seasonal availability, and limited access to direct markets. This idea seeks to unlock its potential by leveraging the three pillars of IEEE Smart Village. Do not get misled: the innovation is not the product, the innovation is in bringing the product from the homes to the market, and empowering the farmers to earn from it.
Currently, the team has received a sanction of $2947 for a pilot grant to implement the idea with Dr. Rupam Goswami and Dr. Durlav Sonowal as mentors.
VrixaaLabs is an Ed-tech startup based on Tezpur University and pre-incubated at IIM-Calcutta Innovation park working on developing new age education technology. The seed of the startup was born at TSDL when a pre-incubation grant was received under the North East Entrepreneurship Development Program (NEEDP), an initiative of NEC (North Eastern Council) implemented in association with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, aimed at creating an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem that can help foster, Socio-Economic Development and Employment Generation in the North East region. Mr. Ronit Choudhury and Mr. Ashish Sarmah, alumni of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, B.Tech., Batch of 2024, took a leap forward when they re-shaped the idea into a start-up.
